Back on Track: Dominic Takes His First and Second Feature Wins at Blanket Hill Speedway

After a couple of weeks off from racing at Blanket Hill Speedway, the DSR crew returned ready to close out the season with heart, hustle, and hope. Coming off a tough early exit at Linda’s Nationals, our main goal for Saturday night, October 25th, was simple,  make sure the #81 was repaired, dialed in, and most importantly, that we had a good time doing what we love.

Getting Back in Rhythm

Hot laps told us everything we needed to know, the #81 was back in fighting form. Other than a few small adjustments to tighten up the handling, Dominic was feeling confident. Luck was on our side at pill draw too, landing us P1 for our heat race.

When the green flag dropped, Dominic showed no signs of rust. The #81 launched off the line and held the top spot for several laps. The car was fast. But the #88 had something to say about that, pulling off an impressive pass on the outside of turns 1 & 2.

Still, Dominic wasn’t about to give up that easily. Coming into the final turns (3 & 4) on the last lap, he saw a gap on the inside and dove in for one last shot. The two cars crossed the line almost side by side with Dominic finishing P2 by just half a car length.

Feature Time: The Drive of a Lifetime

Heading into the feature, only small tweaks were made to match the changing track conditions. Dominic lined up on the outside of the front row, locked in and laser-focused.

At the drop of the green, he wasted zero time putting the #81 out front and for nine laps, he set the pace. A caution on lap 9 tightened the field, but Dominic stayed cool under pressure, nailing another strong restart.

Another caution flew on lap 11, and with heavy hitters like the #88 and #51L breathing down his neck, the pressure was on. When the green waved again, the #88 made a move to challenge for the lead, diving inside through turns 1 & 2. As the #88 slid up the track exiting turn 2, Dominic saw the opening he needed. He threw the 81 low and powered back into the lead with determination that could only come from weeks of hard work and grit.

The rest of the race went green, and every lap felt like an eternity. Dominic drove with precision, pushing hard enough to stay ahead but smart enough not to overdrive and lose his line. When the checkered flag finally waved, it was pure redemption.

Dominic crossed the finish line P1 capturing his first-ever feature win at Blanket Hill Speedway.

Double the Wins, Double the Celebration

As if one victory wasn’t enough, the night wasn’t over yet. Dominic also entered the King of the Hill Race, a special showdown that featured both 600cc and 270cc divisions.

Riding the momentum from his first win, Dominic was laser-focused as he rolled onto the track for the challenge. From the drop of the green, the #81 took control lap after lap, he hit his marks and never looked back. When the final flag waved, Dominic led every single lap and took home the King of the Hill victory, making it his second win of the night!

Two wins. Two checkered flags. One unforgettable night at Blanket Hill Speedway.
