Fan Appreciation Night race Recap for the DSR Team at Blanket Hill

Saturday night under the lights at Blanket Hill Speedway was full of excitement, close racing, and plenty of action for Fan Appreciation Night. For the #30s team, it was another chance to bounce back after last week’s DNF. Thanks to some late-week thrashing and the help of Stringy’s Speed Shop/Edge Chassis, the car was repaired and ready to hit the dirt again.

Heat Race: Fighting From the Front

The pill draw placed Dominic in P3 for Heat Race #3, but there was no chance to shake the car down in hot laps. Without that valuable track time, the team had to make an educated guess on setup and roll the dice.

When the green flag dropped, the heat got wild quickly. Two back-to-back cautions shuffled the field and moved Dominic up to the front row. Once racing got back underway, he wasted no time taking control. Lap after lap, the #30s held strong out front, even putting some distance on the rest of the field.

One final caution bunched the cars back together, but Dominic stayed calm, kept his line, and powered to the Heat 3 victory—a huge confidence boost heading into the feature.

Feature Race: Battling in the Top Five

With another redraw for the feature, Dominic pulled a P4 starting spot. Still, he came out swinging when the green dropped, quickly climbing to second. A fierce battle with the third-place car kept fans on the edge of their seats, as Dominic held on lap after lap.

Midway through the race, after a slide into the wall, the handling started to fade, and the #30s slipped back into third. It looked like the night might go caution-free, but with just four laps to go, the yellow finally waved. The restart had Dominic lined up in P5, leaving one last shot at a strong finish. When the green flew, Dominic gave it everything he had. For a moment, it looked like he might claw back some spots, but on the final stretch to the checkers, another driver slipped past. The night ended with a hard-fought P6 finish.

Trackside Takeaways

  • The #30s proved it had speed, with a heat race win and laps led.
  • No hot laps made setup a challenge, but the team adapted well.
  • Late-race cautions shuffled the field, showing just how unpredictable dirt racing can be.
  • A P6 finish may not tell the whole story, but it shows the fight this team has each week.
