Battling Heat and Handling at Blanket Hill Speedway

It was a scorcher this past Saturday at Blanket Hill Speedway, but for once, we didn’t need to check the radar every 15 minutes. Clear skies meant one thing: we were finally racing without weather delays hanging over our heads.

Rolling In with Confidence

The #30s Micro Sprint showed up hot and ready. No drastic setup changes this time, just a newly installed rear shock package that we had tested a couple weeks prior. Dominic was feeling good after hot laps, and we kept the car as-is heading into the heat.

Mid-Race Chaos

Thanks to a decent pill draw, we started P2 in Heat 2. Dominic held steady in second place, and the race looked like it would run caution-free until a tire found its way onto the track. As Dominic slowed under yellow, a car behind him didn’t catch the caution and clipped our right rear.

It was a heart-stopping moment, but both drivers were okay and continued the race. After the restart, we slipped back one position and finished 3rd, a solid run all things considered.

Tweaks Before the Feature

Dominic gave us solid feedback after the heat: Turns 3 and 4 were a challenge, with the car feeling too loose. We made some calculated adjustments to the 30s and lined up P6 for the Feature.

Managing the Loose Car in the Main Event

From the drop of the green, Dominic looked strong in Turns 1 and 2, but we were still fighting the looseness in the back half. He held his ground in 6th through the bulk of the 25-lap feature.

Then came another late caution with two cars tangled up on the backstretch. On the restart, Dominic found an opening and made it count, grabbing one more position before the checkered flag flew.

Another Step Forward for Our First-Gen Race Team

We brought it home P5, and while it wasn’t a podium, it was a gritty, hard-earned finish. Every race teaches us something new and this one was no exception.

Huge thanks to everyone who supports Dominic Slesinski Racing, including the advice we receive at the track! We’re learning. We’re building. And we’re racing with heart.

See you at the next one!
