Sometimes, racing isn’t just about what happens on the track, it’s about making the right calls before you even unload the trailer. With unpredictable weather and a driver not feeling his best, we pivoted and pointed the hauler toward Blanket Hill Speedway for Sunday’s race.
Rolling the Dice on a New Setup
We arrived with a freshly reworked car, having made significant changes to the setup intended to enhance our handling and overall speed. We rolled in with no testing, no shakedown, just a gut feel and tools in hand. As a result, Sunday turned into both race day and a test session combined.
Hot Laps, Cold Realities
From the get-go, it was clear our changes had potential, but potential doesn’t always mean perfection. We made multiple adjustments throughout the day, chasing comfort, grip, and that sweet spot in car balance. Every lap was feedback. Every wrench turn was progress.
Heat Race Hustle
We lined up in P3 for the heat race, aware that we needed to be aggressive from the outset. When the green flag dropped, Dominic fought hard and ultimately finished in 4th place. Once he was back in the pits, we noticed a minor oil leak. After thoroughly inspecting the car to ensure there were no major issues, we found that the leak was coming from the counter shaft seal. The results of the heat weren’t ideal, considering our new setup and the level of competition, it was a respectable result that provided us with more direction for the feature race.
Feature Fight
In the feature, we started in P8, in a competitive field. The racing was tough, clean, and intense, exactly how we like it. Dominic dug deep and maintained his position, finishing in 8th. While we wished for a better outcome, we are proud of the effort he put in, considering how he felt physically.
eyes on the next one
Racing is a journey, not a one-night story. Sometimes the scoreboard doesn’t tell the whole story. Between the car changes and issues and Dominic pushing through illness, this weekend was a gritty win in our book. While we may not have reached the top this week, the experience and insights we gained about the car were invaluable. We’re learning, we’re evolving, and we’re far from done. We’re focused. The car’s getting better, our notes are stacking up, and every lap is one closer to where we want to be. A huge thanks to our supporters and everyone behind the scenes. See you at the next one!
