There’s just something about Linda’s Speedway, and not in the way we’d like. For Dominic Slesinski Racing, it’s quickly becoming our nemesis track. Despite a night that began with promise, we found ourselves on the wrong side of luck once again.
Armed with solid notes from previous visits, we rolled into Linda’s with confidence and a dialed-in setup for the #30s 600cc Micro Sprint. Dominic came off hot laps pumped up and ready to go, “This track is just fun,” he said. And with a stout field of 30 Micro Sprints, we knew it would be a competitive night.
Heat Race Hurdles
Starting P8 in a tough heat, the goal was to finish in the top 6 to secure a direct transfer to the A-Main. The car felt slightly off on startup, but nothing alarming. The heat ran mostly clean, with just one early caution for a jump start. Dominic drove hard, with an extremely competitive group of cars, we ultimately slipped back to P9, just shy of the cut.
The B-Main Blues
With some adjustments and high hopes, we headed into the B-Main to try and qualify for the feature. Just before heading out, we hit a delay in staging. We shut the car down to conserve heat. But as fate would have it, our Linda’s luck struck again, and the car refused to fire back up. Despite multiple attempts, we couldn’t get it going. And just like that, our night came to an abrupt end.
Diagnosis & Determination
Once we got back home, we tore into the issue and found the culprit, a failed starter. A small part, but a race-ending problem. Thankfully, we’ve got the replacement in hand and we’re turning wrenches getting ready for the next race.
Thank you to all who support us! Even on the tough nights, your support never wavers.
