A New Adventure at Linda’s Speedway
This weekend, we decided to push beyond our usual boundaries and made a trip to Linda’s Speedway. It was an experience that, despite its challenges, left a lasting impression. This race featured the wing, which added a new layer of excitement. However, our night hit a snag early on during hot laps when we lost the chain and had to be pushed off the track. We managed to replace the chain just in time for the heat, only to realize the chain had also damaged the negative terminal on our fuel pump. With that, our night ended before it truly began.
Despite not getting to race, the trip was far from a loss. Experiencing a new track like Linda’s was well worth the effort, and it’s safe to say we’ll be making a return visit.
The Drive Home and Blanket Hill’s Challenge
After sticking around to watch the rest of the races at Linda’s, we hit the road for the four-hour drive home. As the miles ticked by, we noticed that the weather might hold out long enough for us to race Saturday at Blanket Hill Speedway. We pulled into the driveway at 4:30 a.m., caught a quick nap, and then got to work prepping the car for another night of racing.
After a short hold out for the rain, our luck with the draw wasn’t great. We ended up starting at the back of the heat. Dominic ran a solid race against a field of strong competitors, all of whom seemed to be in top form. The feature was just as competitive, with everyone picking up right where they left off in the heat. As the laps ticked down, an infield tire found its way onto the track. The car in front of Dominic hit the the tire, pushing it further onto the racing line. This led to Dominic hitting it and spinning out while battling through turns 1 and 2. With just a couple of laps left, he restarted at the back but managed to gain a spot as the checkered flag waved.
Lessons Learned and Looking Ahead
It was a long and demanding weekend, but it was also another opportunity to learn and grow. Every race, every challenge, adds to our experience and for that we are grateful. We are already looking forward to what the next weekend has in store.
