After 2 weeks off, dealing with motor issues we had an incredible day at the Ernest Gardina Memorial Race at Blanket Hill Speedway on Saturday! Dominic had so many firsts, making this event truly special.
Night Of Firsts
After overcoming motor issues that kept us onff the track for 2 weeks, we finally made a return. This time he faced the added challenge of driving with a wing on the car for the first time. The wing brought a whole new dynamic to the race, requiring adjustments in handling and strategy. It was a thrilling sight to see him navigate the track, adapting to the new features of his car.
Our journey with the 600cc Micro Sprint car has been a rollercoaster. In our first race, Dominic couldn’t finish the race, which was a tough break for him. However, he approached this race with renewed determination and a positive mindset. The winged car presented an exhilarating experience, adding both speed and complexity to his drive.
One of the most moving moments of the day was the four-wide tribute, a solemn and powerful tradition that added a layer of depth to the event. This was Dominic’s first time participating in such a tribute, and it was clear it left a lasting impression on him. The tribute not only honored the memory of Ernest Gardina but also highlighted the sense of community and camaraderie among the racers.
Green Flag Recap
Dominic made the strategic decision to start at the back of the pack. This choice allowed him to gradually get a feel for the car’s new dynamics without the pressure of leading. As the race progressed, he showed remarkable consistency, staying with the pack and gaining more confidence with each lap. His ability to adapt and learn on the fly was truly commendable.
Watching Dominic race was a proud moment for everyone who has supported him. His determination and perseverance shone through, showcasing his passion for the sport and his commitment to continuous improvement. Each lap he completed was a testament to his hard work and dedication.
Post Race Reflections
The racing community once again demonstrated it’s ability to support one another. We were struggling to get our motor situation remedied when some generous people got the word out that we were in a tight spot. Thank you to Blanket Hill Speedway and Dave Blazavich for your invaluable help.
We’re incredibly proud of Dominic and his achievements at this race. His performance at the Ernest Gardina Memorial Race is just the beginning. We can’t wait to see how he continues to improve and what exciting opportunities lie ahead for him in his racing career. This race was a significant milestone, and we look forward to many more thrilling races in the future.
