Motor Trouble Ends the Night Early — Again
There are race nights where there is plenty to talk about. The close battles, setup changes, progress, lessons learned. And then there are nights like this one.
What started out as a change in track venues due to Greenwood Valley getting rained out, unfortunately turned into another disaster when the 30s suffered another motor failure.
After already spending a good portion of the season working through motor issues, this one is especially difficult to swallow.
Another Early Ending
We came into the night ready to race and hoping to keep moving forward after finally getting back on track.
Instead, we once again found ourselves dealing with the same problem that has already taken away valuable track time this season.
The motor went down, and just like that, our night was over.
There isn’t much more to dress up or analyze. Sometimes racing really is that simple and that frustrating.
Where Do We Go From Here?
At this point, the bigger question isn’t what happened Saturday night.
It’s what happens next.
With another motor issue to sort through, the remainder of our season is currently up in the air. We have some decisions to make before we know whether the 30s will make it back to the track again this year.
That is a difficult place to be, especially when all you want to do is race.
But this season has also reminded us that racing is about much more than what happens during the feature. It is the late nights in the garage, the problem solving, the setbacks, the learning, and figuring out how to keep moving when things do not go according to the plan.
Right now, that is exactly where we are.
A Season That Keeps Testing Us
No matter how the rest of the season plays out, this year has given Dominic and our team plenty of experience. Even if some of it came in ways we would have rather avoided.
We have traveled to new tracks, learned more about the car, worked through setup challenges, celebrated progress, and dealt with more than our share of mechanical setbacks.
We obviously hoped this chapter of the season would look a little different, but we will regroup, figure out our options, and decide what makes the most sense for the 30s.
Trackside Takeaways
Some race nights teach you something about the car. Others teach you something about the bigger picture.
This one was another reminder that progress in racing is rarely a straight line. We’ve spent a lot of this season learning, adjusting, fixing, and starting over. Sometimes all in the same week.
There’s plenty of frustration in that, but there’s experience being gained too.
Right now, the takeaway is simple: regroup, figure out what we have, and make the best decision for the team moving forward.
Appreciation Lap
When the racing gets tough, the people behind the team matter even more.
We’re incredibly thankful for everyone who has continued to support Dominic and the 30s through a season that has thrown more than a few challenges our way.
To our sponsors, family, friends and everyone who follows along thank you for sticking with us. The good nights are easy to share. We appreciate the people who stick with us through the hard ones too.
Your support never goes unnoticed.
