DSR Battles Heat, Rain, and Indiana’s Best at US24 Speedway

The Challenge Started Before the Racing Did

DSR headed to US24 Speedway on Saturday knowing the competition would be fierce. Mother Nature decided she wanted to be part of the show too. Between the extreme heat, heavy humidity, and two separate rain delays, it turned into a night that tested everyone in the pits.

Fast Right Out of the Trailer

Once we unloaded the 30s and got through registration, the heat was impossible to ignore. Temperatures were soaring before the first engine even fired.

Dominic rolled onto the track for hot laps and immediately felt comfortable behind the wheel. The car handled well from the start, and after talking things over, we decided only minor adjustments were needed before our heat race.

Everything looked ready to go. Then the rain came.

Racing Mother Nature

Dominic was already strapped into the car and waiting in staging when the skies opened up. Officials threw the red flag, and everyone headed back to their trailers.

Now came the guessing game.

How much would the track change? What adjustments would give us the best chance once racing resumed?

After the rain passed and the track crew went to work, we finally returned to staging.

Starting sixth in Heat Race No. 1, Dominic had plenty of work to do. The field stayed incredibly close throughout all ten laps, with every position hard-earned despite Dominic dealing with some electrical issues. He worked his way forward to fifth at one point before crossing the finish line in sixth.

But that finish locked us into the night’s 30-lap A-Main..

Another Delay. Another Challenge.

As we prepared for the feature, the weather struck again.

Just as Dominic made his way to staging, another rain shower rolled through. Once again, it was back to the trailer to rethink our setup as the racing surface continued to change.

When the rain finally cleared, the track crew did another outstanding job getting the surface race-ready, and it was finally time to settle things on the track.

Charging Forward in the A-Main

Starting 14th in one of the toughest fields we’d faced, Dominic stayed patient when the green flag dropped.

Lap after lap, he worked through traffic and climbed into the eighth position. Multiple cautions and restarts kept shuffling the field, making it difficult to build momentum, but Dominic continued battling until the checkered flag.

When the dust settled, the 30s crossed the line with a solid 10th-place finish.

Considering the level of competition, changing track conditions, two rain delays, and continued electrical issues, we’re proud of the way our team adapted throughout the night.
